The Mad Monk Perusing an Obscure Manuscript

Radium Springs, NM. 1975.

We didn't have electricity, so we used kerosene lamps back then. He really was a mad monk, in his own way.

BTW, in my estimation 1975 was the year the "original back-to-the-land movement" peaked nationally, and "it" (life as shamanic vision quest) peaked locally.

So, who was he? And again, the odd curiosity, "Where is he now"?

He now calls himself OR DiMa, and lives in Las Cruces. He is one of the few creative geniuses I know. He and I graduated from Las Cruces High in 1964, go Bulldogs! A brilliant artist, he has trouble getting shown because one of his favorite motifs is erect penises. The prudes (of whom there are still a remarkable number) find his work offensive, much as they would find my gratuitous use of the word FUCK offensive. He supposedly has a show coming up; I'll post any info on this blog.

Ok... Great thanks! I'd like to see the show when it comes up... Seems like forever since I've seen an erect penis...
