The Deserts of Mars...

...photographed from an altitude of 200 miles.

Actually, this is the beach at Florence, Oregon, photographed in July 2006 from an altitude of about 2 feet. Every little particle on the beach creates a "wind shadow" where sand collects. You can sure tell which way the prevailing wind is blowing.

This is one of my all-time favorite pattern photographs.
